About Kristin Butler

Resilience is the superpower of cybersecurity leaders.

I am a global cybersecurity and risk leader with more than two decades of experience in technology and security. My path began in the United States Marine Corps, where I learned that discipline, adaptability, and trust are the foundations of any strong team. Those lessons have guided me throughout a career devoted to protecting sensitive data, building resilient programs, and shaping cultures of security.

Over the years, I’ve led teams through complex audits, strengthened governance programs, and built incident response capabilities that reduced response times and turned crisis into clarity. I specialize in transforming lean resources into robust outcomes—delivering security, compliance, and risk management for thousands of assets and employees under demanding conditions.

But my true focus is people. I believe great programs are built when leaders create environments where teams can thrive, take ownership, and bring forward challenges without fear. By empowering professionals with mentorship, transparency, and the freedom to think differently, I’ve seen teams evolve into high-performing groups capable of meeting today’s threats and tomorrow’s unknowns.

My leadership philosophy is simple: set the bar higher, kick out the ladder, and build resilience into everything. Security is never “one and done.” It’s living, evolving, and forged in challenge.

Today, I share insights on resilience, trust, AI risk governance, and security culture through writing, speaking, and thought leadership. My mission is to help leaders and organizations grow forward with strength, clarity, and confidence.
